Free Youth Hostel Accommodation
for confirmed conference speakers aged 35 or under
(Hellenic Society Bursaries)
Thanks to the generosity of the Society for the Promotion of Hellenic Studies, also known as the Hellenic Society (UK), we are able to offer confirmed speakers at the conference, aged 35 or under, free accommodation at Nicosia Youth Hostel, from
4 to 10 April 2017, to attend the conference.
The Youth Hostel is small and friendly, and has been recently renovated. It is located very near the conference venue (CVAR), and provides up to 20 beds, each arranged in rooms of four beds. All rooms are en-suite.
The rooms are all shared (up to four people in a room), with all rooms single gender. Sorry there are no single, twin or double rooms are available at the hostel so all rooms will be shared. We will be taking over the whole of the Youth Hostel so only speakers at the conference will be staying there.
You will need to find all your meals yourself in the cafes and restaurants nearby, including breakfast, although there is a vending machine at the hostel. The hostel also has wireless internet access.
Because of the rules for youth hostel accommodation in Cyprus, spaces are only available to those aged 35 or under. We will take over the whole of the hostel for the period 4 to 10 April 2017, so all the guests there will be attending the conference.
If you would like to apply for a place at the youth hostel, please indicate this in your covering letter or e'mail when you first submit your paper.
We regret that, due to the funding arrangements with the Hellenic Society, only confirmed speakers at the conference can take advantage of this youth hostel accommodation. We cannot accommodate non-speaking delegates, or the friends, partners, husbands or wives of speaking delegates.
Places at the hostel will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis, and we will let you know by e'mail if your application has been successful. Once the hostel is full we will not be able to offer any further free accommodation so early application is advised.
Important notes: a deposit payment is made (currently 20 euro per person) for people staying at the hostel. This will be charged in cash when you arrive. Upon departure, providing all bedding and other items are returned, and there is no damage to the hostel, the youth hostel will return this deposit to you. All people staying at the hostel are subject to the standard hostel rules and regulations governing behaviour. In the event that you are required to leave the hostel due to infringement of these rules and regulations, no alternative accommodation or funding for accommodation will be offered. Also, if you do not like staying at the hostel and decide to leave, no alternative accommodation or funding for accommodation will be offered.
